We will outline how we structure our governance and monitor, measure and track progress through a data management maturity model. We will show the clear linkages between good data governance and direct benefits to the end users both within and outside the organisation. By getting governance right our data can deliver more than before.
This session will cover:
Why data is important
How we look after our data
Benefits of looking after the data
The impact of opening up our data to wider uses
Top tips for any data governance programme
About the Presenter
Lisa Allen
I am Lisa Allen; I am the Data Integrity Manager at the Environment Agency. I run a national team ensuring sustained data governance and developing approaches to data quality. I use my knowledge of the organisation and culture to implement data governance that will last.
Michael Rose
With over 15 years working in the Government data area I have built up extensive experience of enabling others to maximise the benefit of public sector information by developing partnering and collaborative approaches to data re-use.
I was part of the team that implemented intellectual property management into the Environment Agency and have been involved in many complex data licensing negotiations to enable wide sharing of our data and have been utilising this experience to help deliver our transition to an Open Data organisation.
